Lady Granelda rescue
The King of Calimshan offered the adventurers to expand his outpost in the jungles of Chult. However, on the way to the ship, they learned that an envoy from Kaz’s clan, traveling to a ceremonial marriage uniting his clan with another, had been ambushed by goblin pirates on the Shining Sea. The bride, Lady Granelda—Kaz's cousin—was kidnapped, and the goblins stole the ceremonial dowry: a priceless weapon known as the Stormhammer. The goblins demanded an exorbitant ransom in gold and gems, threatening to kill Lady Granelda and melt the heirloom hammer if their demands weren’t met. Desperate, Kaz’s clan turned to him, their battle cleric, to save Lady Granelda and recover the sacred weapon. Time was of the essence, as the ransom deadline was only three days away.
Through the Storm
The journey began on calm seas amidst warm camaraderie. However, the mood darkened as storm clouds gathered on the horizon. When the storm struck with full force, the crew scrambled to keep the ship afloat.
- Hallie, drawing upon her druidic connection to nature, worked tirelessly to stabilize the ship. She climbed the main mast to secure the sails, as Camroan led the crew to safety below deck.
- Kaz and Camroan braced the rigging with their dwarven strength, ensuring the ship remained intact.
- When Hallie spotted a rocky outcrop ahead, she warned the captain, but the ship—carried by the storm—couldn’t avoid it.
As the hull breached, Kaz and Camroan raced below deck to repair the damage. Their quick thinking and relentless effort saved the ship from sinking. Though battered, the vessel survived the storm.
Battle with the Sea Monsters
The storm had barely cleared when two giant octopuses attacked, their massive tentacles rising from the churning sea to strike the ship and its passengers.
The battle was fierce:
- Wulfgard transformed into a giant bear, tearing into one octopus’s tentacles before being dragged underwater. He shifted into a crocodile to avoid drowning and continued the fight.
- Hallie summoned the power of the moon to strike one of the octopuses with radiant energy, but she too was dragged under. Turning into a small fish, she slipped from the monster’s grasp and escaped.
- Anton unleashed deadly magical attacks, transforming two of his gemstones into destructive projectiles that weakened both sea monsters.
- Kaz and Camroan, fresh from repairing the ship, joined the fray, delivering crushing blows.
A final moonbeam spell struck the octopus, and as the storm dissipated, the ship was bathed in the gentle glow of moonlight.
Escape from the Rocks
The ship remained stuck on the outcrop. Anton and Camroan devised an ingenious solution: Anton used his magic to dissolve the rocks while Camroan mended the damaged hull with his divine cantrips. Slowly but surely, the ship was freed and able to sail once more.
Confronting the Goblins
As the adventurers neared the goblin islands, Wulfgard overheard the goblins’ plans in their native tongue. They intended to sink the adventurers’ ship and flee with both Lady Granelda and the Stormhammer.
Hallie urged the captain to pursue the goblin ship, and under Kaz’s supervision, the party prepared the galley’s cannons. The goblins, realizing they were outmatched, abandoned their ship—save for their captain, the sinister Slikskrag the Sawtooth.
Slikskrag held Lady Granelda hostage, threatening to kill her unless he received a ransom of 2,000 gold pieces. Meanwhile, Wulfgard alerted the crew to goblins attempting to sabotage the adventurers’ ship from the water. The soldiers thwarted their plans with arrows, securing the vessel.
Kaz refused Slikskrag’s demands and led a daring charge onto the goblin ship, followed by his companions. In the ensuing skirmish, Slikskrag stabbed Lady Granelda, leaving her bleeding on the sinking deck. A fierce battle ended with Kaz delivering the final blow, defeating the goblin captain.
Saving Lady Granelda
With Slikskrag defeated, the adventurers turned their attention to the gravely wounded Lady Granelda. The combined healing magic of Kaz, Camroan, and the druids saved her life.
Treasures Recovered
As the goblin ship sank, the party recovered a chest containing 500 gold pieces and three magical items. Among them was the fabled Stormhammer, a priceless heirloom of Kaz’s clan.
Lady Granelda, grateful for her rescue, requested the party escort her to her wedding beneath the mountains of Chult. She offered Kaz the Stormhammer to use for 101 days, a gesture of her deep gratitude.
Camroan discovered a glowing flail inscribed with runes of his deity, which leapt into his hand.
Anton retrieved a mysterious staff, which he believed held arcane potential that warranted further study.Onward to New Adventures
Reunited with the crew, the adventurers sailed toward their next destination, determined to expand the King of Calimshan’s outpost and fulfill their promise to escort Lady Granelda safely.
The Shining Sea had tested their courage and resilience, but their triumphs proved that together, they could overcome any challenge.
