The Battle for the Tear of Ubtao

The adventurers pressed forward through the dangers of the Chultan jungle, determined to protect the Tear of Ubtao from the Cult of Set. The stakes had never been higher—if the artifact fell into the wrong hands, the balance of life and death would shatter, and the jungle would be overrun by the undead.

Upon arriving at the outpost, the adventurers were met with a gruesome sight. The soldiers and farmers they had escorted lay slain, their bodies bearing the marks of ritualistic sacrifices. The few survivors, including Brother Taro, Garrett Halloway, and Magnus Vaylen, held their ground, but the presence of cultists lurking in the shadows made it clear that the danger was far from over. The players discovered a cultist ship, its deck littered with ominous scrolls and prophecies foretelling a catastrophe should the Tear of Ubtao be taken.

But before they could piece together more information, the Tritons struck.

The Battle at the Outpost

The Tritons, territorial and ruthless, emerged from the water and launched a ferocious attack on the remaining outpost defenders. Wulfgard Grimclaw, the battle-hardened druid, transformed into a crocodile to take the fight directly to them, but he was quickly overwhelmed. Poison coursed through his body as the Tritons dragged him into the sea, intent on finishing him off.

Hallie Slowillow, drawing upon the forces of nature, summoned a surge of healing energy, keeping Wulfgard from dying while Kaz Ironbeard and Anton Wingclip fought to repel the attackers. Camroan Brightforge, recognizing the danger of losing their only means of escape, worked desperately to repair the ship’s hull while hurling divine flames at the enemy.

After an exhausting battle, the Tritons were finally driven back, retreating into the ocean. Though victorious, the party had lost more of their forces—many of the farmers and soldiers had fallen, leaving the outpost barely holding together. With no time to mourn, the adventurers turned their focus toward their ultimate goal—the Temple of Ubtao.

The Temple of Ubtao: A Desperate Stand

Using the cultists’ stolen map, the adventurers navigated the dense jungle, evading quicksand, venomous creatures, and eerie whispers carried by the wind. When they finally reached the ancient temple, what they saw sent a chill down their spinesthe High Priest of Set was already inside.

The Tear of Ubtao, an orb pulsing with divine energy, hovered at the center of the chamber. The Undead Naga—its skeletal body coiled around the sacred artifact—was badly wounded, struggling to protect it from the High Priest’s dark sorcery. With the Tear's power flickering, the temple walls trembled, and the air grew heavy with the promise of impending doom.

The adventurers leaped into action.

  • Hallie and Wulfgard worked together to restore the Naga’s strength, using their druidic magic to reverse the High Priest’s corrupting influence.
  • Kaz and Camroan stood against the fanatical cultists, their divine magic clashing with the dark forces of Set.
  • Anton, wielding arcane power, engaged the High Priest himself, his spells colliding against the enemy’s deadly incantations.

The battle raged, steel and sorcery clashing amidst the temple ruins. The High Priest, realizing he was losing control, made a desperate bid to escape on his enchanted flying carpet. But the adventurers would not let him go so easily and Anton invoqued a fire spell that burned the flying carpet.

With a final, blinding burst of divine energy, the Undead Naga was fully restored, its body radiating with the ancient power of Ubtao. With renewed strength, it coiled around the High Priest, preventing him from fleeing.

With the Tear of Ubtao safe and its guardian restored, the adventurers had prevented a catastrophe. The undead did not rise. The jungle remained in balance—for now.

Aftermath: A Victory with Consequences

The adventurers had succeeded, but at great cost. The outpost was in ruins, many of their allies had perished, and the Cult of Set was still out there, wounded but vengeful. The High Priest had died but his dark god will probably scheme something else.

For now, they had a moment of respite—but in the depths of the jungle, dark forces were already stirring once more.
